The location of this micro cache is on cul-de-sac in the village of Tockwith, which is rumoured to be the longest cul-de-sac in Europe.
The cul-de-sac is named after Prince Rupert of the Rhine, nephew of Charles 1st and who commanded much of the Royalist army during the battle of Marston Moor in 1644 during the English Civil War. Rupert’s forces were beaten and by the Parliamentarian forces led by Oliver Cromwell and Lord Fairfax. Interestingly, the later also has a road named after him (Fairfax Crescent) directly off the cul-de-sac in question and where a couple of newbies to the world of Geocaching currently reside!
This is the first of my caches so treat me gently folks. I hope to do more around the area but would like to see how this goes before I plunge in and spend all my free time cooking up interesting locations.
The cache is a Black nano-cache with only a logbook inside, so please bring a tweezers, pencil and be prepared to write in an equally nano-ish font size. GZ is accessible from the pavement and there is parking on the kerb however it is close to neighbouring houses so watch out for muggles when searching. please make sure the cap to the cache closed tightly when leaving to prevent moisture destroying the log. thanks
