This is a small magnetic nano hidden next to Smiddy Shaw Reservoir. It's easily accessible on foot but I wouldn't recommend trying to drive to the cache location as the road is very narrow and you may have difficulty getting back out, instead park next to the fishing notice at the entrance and walk along the path.
Smiddy Shaw Reservoir is one of three located on Muggleswick Common, in County Durham, along with Waskerley and Hisehope. The reservoir was made in 1870 and feeds the local Honey Hill Water Treatment Works. It contains on average 1.35 million cubic metres of water. More importantly, it offers a view of the surrounding Commons you will struggle to find anywhere else.
This cache has been placed here and dedicated to a very special friend who I introduced to the location some weeks ago and since then it has become a favorite spot to stop off on our almost daily rambling across the commons. It is named such, as you'll discover when you're there, because it's a perfect place to go if you need to Break Out from everyday life, alone or with your special someone.
This cache forms part of a series of sites around Muggleswick Common that aim to introduce the beautiful locations near us, which are easily missed when life goes too fast.
Take a seat on the barriers, enjoy the view, say hello to the sheep and find the cache (in that order!)
