The cache is found at the top of a small volcano with fine views of the dunes and the mountains.
For the walk to the cache from the parking area there are two choices.
The first is via a rough trail towards the cache which is left to head towards the volcano.
The second is a walk along the Barranco (Gorge) de Las Pilas to an immense wall after which the cache is named.
The direct walk will take about 45 minutes to get to the cache, just follow the track and strike off towards the volcano as you get near.
The walk via the gorge, the largest in the north of the island, will take considerably longer if you walk all the way to the wall itself and then find the cache on the way back. On the way you will pass the signpost for a path which will take you up Montana Roja where the cache vale la pena subir is to be found. Only a little further is the wall itself, it is now separated where the gorge passes through it, I do not know its history but wonder if at one time it was a bridge across the gorge. Just before reaching the wall there are splendid sand gullies and sculptures to the left.
The walk is unsuitable for young children but is suitable for older children under supervision. You will need walking boots or sturdily soled trainers. The terrain is poor in places, with too many small rocks. For the climb up the volcano it is strongly advised that you begin from the waypoint, there is plenty of bedrock and no great steepness.
As with all walking in Fuerteventura, because of the rocky terrain, ALWAYS look where you place your feet, if you wish to admire the scenery, stop walking and plant your feet securely.
