Geocache Description:

Series - Introduction to Night Caching

I have created a fun series of night caches for those that have never tried night caching as well as for those that are well versed. The caches will start off quite easy but will become progressively more challenging as you graduate to the next level. It is an exciting and extraordinary experience.

For those that have never tried night caching, here are a few suggestions:

1) Ensure you have a good LED flashlight with 50 lumens minimum output.
2) A headlamp along with your flashlight is highly beneficial.
3) For safety it is always recommended to night cache with a partner.
4) Expect the unexpected, so always be prepared with additional batteries, water, snacks or energy bars, dress for potentially bad weather, and wear rugged footwear.
5) Firetacks - these commonly used night caching trail reflectors are retro-reflective. This means they will reflect light directly back at the light source that is shining at it. A headlamp is very useful as the tacks will shine back at your eyes very nicely. if you hold a flashlight away from your eyes, the firetack will be much dimmer in the distance.
6) Other common night caching techniques include the use of Ultraviolet Ink (the writing can only be seen with a UV light), chirp beacons, QR codes, laser pointers and whatever the imagination can dream up.

So light up your life and go out and Cache at Night!

Junior Level

Note: You will need a UV light to find this cache. Also, be aware of the terrain rating. It could increase with wet and muddy conditions. There are areas with steep drops.

Stage 1 - Find the cache at the posted coordinates. These will take you to Stage 2. This is also the trailhead.

Stage 2 - Find some coordinates here. Go to these coordinates and look back up the hill. You will see two trees that will provide information. Assume N 43 38.??? and W 079 52.???. The left tree has the last 3 digits of your next West coordinate. The right tree has the last 3 digits of your next North coordinate. Read them from yellow to orange.

Stage 3 - Find the container here to get the coordinates for the Final.

Graduation

In order to pass your final exam and graduate, you will need to record three letters that are inside the cover of the log book.
