Geocache Description:

This is a challenge cache.  You must meet the requirements of the challenge before you log a find.  The cache is at the posted coordinates.

This Iowa Challenge is for the geocacher who often travels throughout Iowa, finding numerous caches in many Iowa counties.  Please note that you must meet the requirements of the challenge before logging your find.  You must also prove that you have met the requirements in your posted log.  The requirements are:

1) Find, and log at least 200 caches in five different Iowa Counties.
2) Find, and log at least 100 caches in ten diffferent Iowa Counties.
3) Find, and log at least 50 caches in twenty different Iowa Counties.
4) Include proof of meeting the requirements in your posted log.

Note that an Iowa county can be in more than one category.  For example, I have found more than 200 caches in Linn County, but I count Linn County as a county with at least 200 caches, at least 100 caches, and at least 50 caches.  This means that the minimal number of counties needed to completed this challenge is 20.  See my map further down in the description.

You must include proof of your meeting the requirements in your posted log.  I would prefer a map, such as from GSAK.  Please do not give a listing of all the caches you find to complete the challenge.  If you use a map, please be sure to use different colors to represent counties, rather than various shades of one color. Click on the "related web page" link near the top of this page for a link to the County Map Macro for GSAK. You may also use the GSAK stats compiler map which also lists counties and the number of finds.

If you wish to find the container before you meet the requirements of the challenge, you must get permission from the Cache Owner to sign the log and post a note PRIOR to finding the cache.

The cache is hidden about 12 feet up in a tree. Climbing the tree is not required, but a TOTT is needed to retrieve the container. There are many trails in this park, so I have created two waypoints to help you stay on the the correct path. There is also a parking waypoint for those not familiar with the area. The cache is approximately 50 feet off of the trail.

Permission to place this caches was granted by the Cedar Rapids Parks Department.

Here is what my map looks like:

  1   2 - 9   10 - 24   25 - 49   50 - 74
  75 - 99   100 - 149   150 - 199   200 - 249   250+
