Relativt grei park-and-grab cache, like utenfor Sørreisa sentrum. Cachen ligger på en høyde mellom Ytterholtet boligfelt og Bonhaugveien/Golan. Ta med penn/blyant.
Fairly easy park-and-grab cache, just outside the center of Sørreisa. The cache is placed on a hill between the Ytterholtet residental area and Bonhaugveien. Bring a pen/pencil.
NO: Navnet Kongehaugen stammer fra 1907, da daværende Kong Haakon VII og Dronning Maud besøkte Sørreisa som følge av unionsoppløsningen i 1905. Haakon og Maud med følge gikk opp hit for å nyte utsikten.
Rundt haugen er det flere spor etter 2. verdenskrig; bunkere og kanonstillinger. Sørreisa var et viktig knutepunkt mellom sjøveien og indre Troms.
EN: The name Kongehaugen - The Kings Hill, derived from 1907, when King Haakon the 7th and his wife Queen Maud visited Sørreisa. The visit was part of a nation wide tour following the union dissolution from Sweden in 1905.
Around the hill there is several traces of world war 2; caves and canon bunkers. Sørreisa was an important hub between the ocean and the inland of Troms.
