Eratosthenes of Cyrene calculated the circumference of the earth a long time ago and knew the world was not flat. The earth is not exactly round as well, but has some big bumps on it. For this reason the point furthest away from the center of the earth is not the highest mountain, but actually a volcano called Chimborazo in Ecuador. Meanwhile, thanks to the fact that we only use the longitude and latitude of the WGS84 coordinate system, we are stuck having to check all levels of the parking deck for a geocache.
