Geocache Description:

Needless to say, the co-ordinates given are NOT for the actual cache!

This is the first cache of Little Duck's Journey, the caches of which are, in order from the suggested parking:
GC3YK3P Heron – Little Duck's Journey
GC3YK7Z Fisherman – Little Duck's Journey
GC3YK8A Swan – Little Duck's Journey
GC3YKG0 Canoeist – Little Duck's Journey
GC3XQ6W Mother Duck - Little Duck's Journey (Series Bonus)

One damp Sunday morning, Little Duck woke up in his nest and discovered that he was alone. He couldn't see his brothers and he couldn't see his sisters, but, worst of all, he couldn't see his mum, so he was a rather worried little duck.
The only sign of life, in fact, was an elderly moorhen swimming around under a nearby bridge.

“Ah, look who overslept!” said the moorhen. “Your Mum's gone over to the Wild Goose, Little Duck – that boy's back again.”
That made perfect sense. All the ducks knew the narrowboat “Wild Goose”. The couple who owned it had a little grandson who, when he was visiting, thought feeding the ducks was the best treat ever, and the ducks were only too happy to encourage him.

"Do you know where the Wild Goose is at the moment?" he asked, for, like most narrowboats, the Wild Goose tended to move around a bit.
"Not offhand", replied the moorhen, "but if you ask around I'm sure someone will have seen her."
"Well", thought Little Duck, "I shall just have to swim along the canal until I can find the Wild Goose or someone who can tell me where she is."
So off he swam, down the canal, until he met a heron, who looked down her long scary beak at him and said . . .

IMPORTANT SAFETY NOTE

The caches in the series were set from the point of view of a small duck. If you are not a duck, you will need to equip yourself with something with duck-like properties, such as a canoe, kayak or other small boat. The caches are NOT accessible from the towpath and if you try you will probably land on your head in the canal.

As always, if you are not completely confident in your ability to access the cache safely, either enlist the help of someone who does know what they're doing, or give up and go to the pub instead. You cache at your own risk. Don't do anything your mother wouldn't do.
