Geocache Description:

The City of Lakeland first began as an amusement park as a business venture by Louis Garner. Garner himself described it as "the world's largest playground" and "the Disney World of the Midsouth." Lakeland Amusement Park first opened in 1961, but lacked many of the things he promised to investors. Some of the attractions included a Ferris Wheel and a gondola Skyride. The other main attraction was the Huff 'n Puff train ride (which explains the name of the nearby road) where "moonshine bandits" would hold up the train and kidnap a passenger. The park finally closed in 1978 when it was driven out of business by stiff competition from the new Libertyland.

This cache is a simple lock'n'lock hidden in the woods. If you start at the posted trailhead, you will pass by several remnants of the park on a service road. These are mainly old railroad ties, metal tracks and other pieces, crumbling asphalt, and a concrete pit. It is possible to reach the cache by boat, however you will then miss out on some of the history of the area!

I found out about this old service road from the cache Three if by Land One if by sea and after it was archived I decided to place another cache in the area talking about the history.
