You are invited to a World GIS Day event at Lakeland Community College! Stop by between 10 AM and 3 PM for free food, gadget geek time, to meet some people who use GPS and GIS data at their jobs, and log some new caches. Additional "Smileys" will be available for accomplishing other tasks as well.
Social hour from noon to 1 PM. Free hot dogs in the CLI, or you can purchase something at Breakers or from one of the nearby fast food establishments, or bring lunch from home.
I’ve made arrangements with the geography department to provide us access to their map lab and their precision surveying equipment. Want to see what geocaching is like with 3 feet of error instead of 20? Or play with the data that these and other satellites collect?
Log book will be located in the CLI (second floor of A building, near the west end of the covered walkway), and will be available throughout the event. This will also be where you can discover, drop, or pick up trackables, sign up to use the mobile mappers, meet other cachers, and get directions to the GIS lab for mapping.
We are being asked to park in the western parking lots, since there will be a job fair in the gym the same day. Enter Building A near the clocktower and follow the signs to the CLI on the second floor.
Drop in when you get a chance - this event will be open house style since it is during a weekday.
