Geocache Description:

The cache is located in the northern part of the island of Vardø (Vardøya), close to a german bunker Ørneredet ( Eagle's nest) built during the World War II. From the cache you have an excellent view over the Barents Sea, eastern coast of Finnmark, city of Vardø,  and in the distance it is also possible to see part of Russia.

To find the cache you don't need to enter inside the bunker hill, but flash light could be useful. You can park your car below the hill. Sturdy shoes and windproof jacket are usable even in midsummer, as the terrain is quite rocky and you could find the arctic breeze from Barents sea quite chilly!

The cache is not accessible during the winter (snow and ice will make it really hard and even dangerous to move on the hill). Other times be extra careful when it has been raining as the stones can be really slippery.

I hope to create a series of caches presenting bunkers in Finnmark. If you know a suitable place, feel free to create a new cache naming it Invaders of Finnmark: xxx [xxx=name of the bunker/place]
