[IT] La cache si trova nelle vicinanze della chiesa di S.Giorgio in una strada pedonale che permette di raggiungere la piazza del paese. [EN] The cache is located near the church of St. George in a small street.

[IT] La pieve di San Giorgio di Valpolicella (chiamata anche pieve di San Giorgio Ingannapoltron) è un'antica pieve posta nel comune di Sant'Ambrogio, in Valpolicella, nella frazione di San Giorgio. Costruita probabilmente su un luogo precedentemente adibito al culto pagano, risalente al VIII secolo (secondo alcuni storici anche al VII), l'attuale edificio religioso rappresenta uno dei più interessanti e antichi esempi di architettura romanica presenti nella provincia di Verona. Ricostruita in gran parte attorno al XI secolo, durante il periodo medioevale, la pieve di San Giorgio era a capo di uno dei tre "piovadeghi" in cui era divisa amministrativamente la Valpolicella. Insieme a essa ricoprivano questo ruolo anche la pieve di San Floriano e quella di Negrar. Era inoltre una chiesa collegiata, sede di un capitolo di canonici che gestivano anche una schola iuniorum (cioè una scuola in cui si impartivano le prime nozioni di grammatica latina ai ragazzi del luogo, tra i quali poi spesso venivano scelti anche i nuovi chierici). Oltre all'interessante struttura architettonica, al chiostro adiacente e agli affreschi presenti all'interno, di grande pregio la presenza di un antico ciborio che presenta delle scritte che lo collocano in piena epoca longobarda e precisamente nel periodo del regno di Liutprando. In una giornata limpida è possibile ammirare una fantastica veduta della valle e il lago di Garda. [EN] The church of San Giorgio di Valpolicella (also called the church of San Giorgio Ingannapoltron) is an ancient church located in the town of St. Ambrose, in Valpolicella, in the village of San Giorgio. Probably built on a site previously used for the pagan worship, dating from the eighth century (according to some historians to the seventh), the current religious building is one of the most interesting and oldest examples of Romanesque architecture in the province of Verona. Rebuilt largely around the eleventh century, during the medieval period, the church of San Giorgio was the head of one of the three "piovadeghi" when it was administratively divided Valpolicella. Along with it also covered the role the church of San Floriano and to Negrar. He was also a collegiate church, home to a chapter of canons who also ran a choir iuniorum (ie a school in which were taught the basics of Latin grammar local boys, including then often were also chosen the new clerics).
