This cache is placed in the crater of a dark, brooding looking volcano, it is off the usual tourist trails. The volcano is complete with a shallow crater. The views are very fine.
The direct walk will take about 20 minutes to get to the cache. It is recommended that you walk around the rim of the crater to fully appreciate the views over the north of the island. The route from the parking area is fairly straightforward but avoid the area to the right of the collapsed pit on the side of the volcano, it is covered in shingle and very slippery underfoot.
The parking area is best approached by car via the track opposite the road to the Cuerva del Llano, the track nearer to Villaverde and marked as a cyclist route is much more bumpy. A 4x4 is not necessary.
The walk is unsuitable for young children but is suitable for older children under supervision. You will need walking boots or sturdily soled trainers. The terrain is poor in places, with too many small rocks. The climb however is short and not really that steep.
As with all walking in Fuerteventura, because of the rocky terrain, ALWAYS look where you place your feet, if you wish to admire the scenery, stop walking and plant your feet securely.
