This empty lot was once the site of the original Half Moon restaurant which opened in 1938. The original wooden frame building consisted of three half circles, the first "half moon" contained a take out stand, the second had booths, and the third was a dance hall.
In 1983, this restaurant closed and the building at this location remained empty until is was torn down some ten years later.
When I was a child, my parents took me to this location many times and back then I only knew about the take out stand portion of Half Moon. It was years after when my Dad told me about the other half moon sections and how the dance hall was a favourite place for him and his friends to go when he was a young man.
