That dak was an avid cacher is obvious from his caching figures - he was the leading Australian cacher in terms of numbers, at the time of his death, and had been vying with Maccamob for that honour for some time before that. In 2007, a group consisting of dak, his good mate Rebel Acts, and HawMorFords, broke the existing Australian day record with 128 caches - at the time that was a pretty serious achievement. You still occasionally hear the older cachers talking about 5546 - his final total, and he is still in the top 50 in the Australian finds list, more than four years after his last find. His statistics page is still well worth a visit. Link
DAK was also very well respected in the Geocaching Community. He was friendly towards all, and did not hesitate to help out with technical issues such as html (which he taught) or just give a hint on a cache, and at any time of the day, or even night! There were several caches in his honour BEFORE he passed away, such was his standing. He was also not only well known and liked in his own state of Victoria, but in several other states as well.
I could go on, but there are others who could do that far better. While thinking of puzzle ideas I came across this one, and before long realised that it would also make a good cache to remember dak with, and to bring him to the notice of the newer cachers who will never have the pleasure of getting to know him.
