This challenge cache is a variation on the popular "colors of the rainbow" or "box of crayons" ideas. It occurred to us as we were hiding this. It was late in the afternoon, and as we were looking for a good spot, the long shadows that the Joshua trees were casting suddenly vanished and it was rather darker. We turned around, and saw that the sun had set. The western sky had this marvelous glow, with pastel colors ranging from yellow to orange to pink, with a little red on the few clouds in that direction.
So here's your challenge: Find and log 35 caches...
1) Ten (10) of them must have the word "sun" in them. You can use the word on its own, or in words such as "sunflower" and "Sunday", which refer to the sun. Brownie points for using the word "sunset"
2) Twenty-five (25) of them must have any of these words in it: "red", "pink", "orange", "yellow". These words must stand alone: "pinky" doesn't count, nor does "boredom", which has "red" in it. Feel free to mix and match colors: they don't have to all be the same.
2a) Foreign words *DO* count. Visitors from other lands should be able to claim a Smiley, too. Examples: "yellow" is "amarillo" in Spanish and "jaune" in French, while "red" is "rosso" in Italian. The rules of 2), above, still apply.
3) A cache with more than one qualifier (e.g. "Red Sun at Morning") can only be used once, for one of the qualifiers: your choice.
4) All cache sizes and types (icons) count. More brownie points for lots of icons
5) There is no time limit: all Finds count, past, present and future, so you may already qualify.
6) You are free to sign the log, and post a Note, if you wish, even if you don't yet qualify. As soon as you have your 35 qualifiers, you can change the Note to a Found It!
You are looking for a matchstick holder of an appropriate color, hidden at something of which you'll see many around here. In fact, most of our AVCA hides are near/at one of these things. This one is in a hole, with some natural camo. There is safe, legal parking on the shoulder, a short distance from the cache. In rainy weather, it might be very muddy, so be wary. In winter, snow is "possible", although it rarely lasts for long if any does fall, but there might not be any way to park. And in summer it can get very hot
When you claim your Smiley, post a list of the 35 (or more) qualifiers. See our Dropbox list for the suggested (but not required) format. You may do a public bookmark, or simply list the caches in your Find log. You may also attach a link to a list kept elsewhere: your personal server, a file-sharing site such as Dropbox, or any storage site in "the cloud".
Good luck! Have fun
