This cache is a micro and only contains a logbook. Please be sure to bring writing equipment to sign the logbook. The area can often be quite busy with muggle activity, therefore extreme stealth may be required when removing the cache from its hide. It is also important that this cache is returned to the exact location it was found to prevent it from being muggled.
This cache will bring you to the small suburb of Coconuts. Here lies the mouth of the Johnstone River. This area is noted for being the location where Sub-Inspector Robert Arthur Johnstone commenced his trip up river after arriving with the intention to rescue survivors from the shipwrecked 'Maria' in 1872.
Today, the Coconuts is a quiet beach locality that is home to Innisfail's outrigger club. It also has various ammenities that enable you to bring the family; have a pinic/BBQ; walk on the beach or just relax under a shady tree while the kids run a muck on the nearby playground.
Bring along a fishing line, insect repellent, suncream and a hat.
As with all areas in Far North Queensland it is important to be very crocodile aware. These reptiles do inhabit the Johnstone River. Therefore it is highly recommended that you and your family do not go swimming at this beach. Also, keep an eye on your geohound if it decides to venture in for a quick dip.
