Geocache Description:

This leisurely residential Island forms part of the Heart of Knysna. Various activities take place from here.

When attempting this cache one needs to travel on George Rex drive. George Rex (29 August 1765 - 3 April 1839) was a British-born entrepreneur, who spent most of his adult life in the Cape Colony, South Africa. He founded the town of Knysna in the Western Cape and played a key role in its development. Rex filled a number of positions in the Cape Colony – including Marshal of the Vice-admiralty Court, notary public to the Governor and advocate for the Crown – before settling on the farm Melkhoutkraal, in the Knysna district.

When reaching the parking waypoint you should take a few moments to enjoy the magnificent view of both the Knysna Heads and the opening in between. If you stay long enough you are sure to see some muggles pumping for “Blood Worm” and “Pink Prawns” which are used for fishing in this area. You are also likely to see the well know Knysna Featherbed Boat. The cache can be done in both high tide and low tide. If however you prefer to keep your feet dry this cache should be attempted in low tide.

Please be advised that this is a high muggle area. Do not attempt this cache if there are muggles around. Please replace exactly as found.
