Geocache Description:

This is a traditional cache just a short hike from the road. Park in the pines and enjoy the mountain and creek views, bring your fishing pole!

This is the original site of the National Rendezvous in 1990 and 1996. The Council Rock was the official meeting place of the camp, and the heart of the event that included mortar and black powder competitions, horse races, and gatherings of traders.  The pre-1840 reenactment of an era goneby brought to life a community of tipi dwelling, buckskin wearing, traditional music making folks for 10 days of merriment and comradship. This cache is dedicated to the many friends in the Buckskinning community and their love for the land and especially the mountains.

The open plain is divided by a lovely creek, deep enough for wading and filled with brook trout. Bring your kids, dogs, and explore the pines and who knows? You may run across an old trade bead!
