BUGGE CANNERY

Bugge Cannery sits where Battelle NW operates today. From the Marian Taylor Collection, MAC

"For many years a small industry at Washington Harbor was important to the community.
Hans J. Bugge started a clam cannery there in 1905.
In 1922 his son, the late Anton Bigge, took over the cannery and operated it until 1966 when the property was sold to Battelle Northwest for an oceanographic research facility." ("Dungeness: The Lure of a River" written by the Sequim Bicentennial History Book Committee, Pg. 138-9)

The Bugge Cannery Company sold clams and nectar under the Moon Kist brand.

Men work at canning clams at the Bugge Cannery, which operated for more than 60 years at Washington Harbor. From the Marian Taylor Collection, MAC
