Caver Bill: This cache has had a good run. Unfortunately, the hollow tree that it was hidden in had fallen down in a storm and shattered. Since the original challenge of the hide was gone I decided it was time to retire it.

This is a beautiful area. The sun was bright and the birds all along the dirt road out to the cache were chirping loudly. I hope someone else puts a cache out here to bring people out there for a visit. Always nice to see the ducks, geese, and swans on the lake.

Geocache Description:

This cache is located in the Baldwin Lake Wildlife Management Area in Hopewell Township. The site is open during daylight hours. The cache is a small PVC pipe container. Be sure to screw the lid back on tight.

I had noticed this location on the map for some time but only recently took the time to explore the property after meeting a local while caching in another nearby preserve. They stated that this area had some nice trails and great views of the lake. The obscure parking area for this cache is accessible just off North Main Street in Pennington Borough. The trail is part of the Pennington Loop Trail and traverses along the south shore of Baldwin Lake. From the parking area go north to the woods and then follow the wood road. The trail comes close to the cache, so only minimal bushwacking is necessary.

This cache may be difficult to retrieve for some people. As always, use judgement and caution while attempting difficult activities.
