Geocache Description:

General Info

Cacher names seem so familiar when you see them in logs, but do you actually know anything about the people involved?

Join us from 6:00 – 8:00pm (maybe a little later, depending on how things are going) at Dee Why Beach on Wednesday 12/12/12 for a chat, dinner and fun. You can rock up anytime from 5:30pm onwards as we’ll already be there. This is the first event we’ve made so if you have any recommendations, please post them in your Will Attend log!

We’ll be playing the Christmas Caching Swap game, and there may be another unlisted activity for you to do…

There is a BBQ at the site and plenty of take-away restaurants in the area so there’s lots of choice. Restaurants nearby include Ocean Sushi, Lucky’s and Pep’s, Heaven Spoon and many more. BYO picnic blanket as there are only a few tables and they may already be taken by muggles since it's a popular spot.

Why?

Well, it’s 12/12/12 for a start - the last repetitive number date for almost a century! Most probably we won’t be alive to see the next one!

Also, events around here aren’t plentiful, so now’s a good time to put names to faces and to meet cachers from the neighbourhood and from farther away.

This event is also a great opportunity for you guys to get the 12/12/12 caching online souvenir. The only other events in Sydney so far are in Strawberry Hills and Rouse Hill!

Parking

Parking is available nearby, with free street parking and free parking on The Strand… if you can find it! The other parking is at paid parking lots - only free if you have the Warringah parking pass.

Christmas Caching Swap:

As Christmas is coming up soon, we will be having a Christmas Caching Swap. If you wish to take part in this, please bring a trackable (if you bring a travel bug dog tag please attach something to it to make it unique), a geocache container (camoed if you like!!!) OR anything else related to geocaching that you think someone else would appreciate. The value should be no more than about $10-$12. No worthless plastic swag please!

Make sure you wrap your item. At the event we will number each present and pick the numbers out of a hat.

Rainy Day Option:

If the weather looks like it will take a turn for the worse, we’ll post a note on the cache page. If so, we’ll be going to Madigan’s Bar and Grill at the Harbord Diggers Club, Evans Street, Freshwater. Coordinates for this location are included in the additional waypoints.

IMPORTANT

* Please post a Will Attend log if you wish to attend, saying how many people in your group will be attending. This is so we can reserve seats if we have to resort to the rainy day option.
* If planning to take part in the Christmas Caching Swap, remember to bring a wrapped item to swap with other cachers.

This is a family-friendly event. We hope to see you there!
