Basket Range: Saved By Fire
This is the third cache in my Basket Range series.
An accidental fire started by some local youths playing with matches in early 1983 created a burnt out area of bush which prevented the progression of the devastating fires of Ash Wednesday later that year. This fire break spared the Basket Range area from being completely destroyed by fire, none the less the fires got close and after going around Basket Range, they continued to ruin more lives and property. The large bald grassy hill across the valley from this cache location was once covered in blossoming cherry trees, the radiant heat from the bushfires of Ash Wednesday in the nearby hills killed all the cherry trees leaving a bald hill now grazed by cattle.
This cache is located on the edge of the road near a large old oak tree.
It is a white screw top 500ml container with a log, pencil, swappables and space for more.
Not a super tricky hide but be careful not to be barbed whilst hunting around. (No need to go over the fence)
