Geocache Description:

!!!!!Congrats to the brave and adventurous NDOkie for being the FTF!!!!!

This cache is dedicated to Harley. A tame/wild dog or wild/tame dog, however you prefer. One thing for sure is Harley is HARD CORE! Thus, expect this cache to be like him (hard core).

My Grandson and I were out for a week end backpacking trip on the Elk River Hiking Trail when we first met Harley. He was waiting at the trail head, like I’m sure he has done many times before and for many other hikers. If you have been on this trail recently you may have very well met Harley.
Harley was wearing a collar with the phone number of the owner. So we called them to find out if he was lost. It turns out that he runs the trail on a regular basis, sometimes for days. Indeed we were informed that Harley knew the trail better than anybody. And when he is ready he will come home.
Well needless to say, Harley stuck with us all the way to camp. Then proceeded to entertain us with his antics about trees and squirrels. All along we expected him to tire of us and take off. When dark came Harley was still with us and his manner changed from running squirrels to guarding the camp. Every once in a while he would start growling at something, jump up and take off. Only to come back shortly and lay down again. Through the entire night!
When morning light came I thought for sure Harley would take off for home. But he hung around, sometimes warming himself by the fire and watched us. When we packed up, Harley still was around watching. When we went to hide this cache guess who was still with us.
Harley stayed with us all the way back to the truck. When we were loading up Harley just laid down below the trail head sign. Showing no interest in us any longer. I suspect he was waiting for the next hikers to come along.
So, in honor of Harley, the hard core trail dog, we hid this cache. It, like him, is also hard core. Expect a .4 or .25 mile hike on a well established trail, depending on where you go in. Very scenic and at times rugged. The cache is hidden very well and will provide a challenge for who ever decides to hunt for it.  You may even get lucky and meet Harley, if you do please be kind and enjoy his company. He has sworn secrecy to us and will not divulge any information about the caches where a bouts, sorry.

You are looking for an ammo box.
