Yowie 3747 Cache : LS2LK - No Trolls Here
This cache is placed near Spring Creek and the Lake Sambell To Lake Kerferd Walking Track.
You can safely cross the creek here,
from the Caravan Park side to the other side,
where you can find a walking track to Lake Kerferd.
Lake Sambell was the site of the Rocky Mountain Mining Company ( GC1RYBE: Rocky Mountain Tunnel ) open cut sluice operation during the mid 1800s and the early 1900s.
In the 1920s the area was created into a man-made recreational lake and reserve for the citzens of Beechworth. Today it is used for swimming, fishing, walking, cycling and other forms of recreational use.
Lake Kerferd which was created in 1862 to dam the waters of Hurdle Swamp.
This walk 5km will take you to Lake Kerferd - deep vertical shafts sunk to expose gold-bearing quartz can be seen along parts of the track.
The cache contains a log sheet only.
Please bring your own pen and be snake aware.
Happy Hunting, have Fun and Enjoy.
