Located within Broadwater National Park..
In Ancient Aboriginal times the area was home to the Bundjalung people, who were semi-nomadic and wandered through this area gathering food. Bundjalong people were the original custodians of the North Coastal areas of Northern NSW.
Native plants
The park has a wide variety of vegetation, including coastal heath, wetlands and eucalypt forests.
Native animals
There are many birds in the heath and along the sea shore. Walking along the beach you can see wedge-tailed shearwaters, pied oyster-catchers, gulls and terns. It's not uncommon for sea eagles and osprey to fly over in search of food.
You may be lucky enough to see swamp wallabies, and other marsupials .
On the beach you can see coffee rock which is black or brown rock composed of sand grains cemented together by organic matter. The rocks are quite soft and as it is scratch by the sand that washes against it they slowly wear away and the coffee colour stains the water.
From the carpark you need to walk through the Picnic area to get to the beach.. Instead of going down the track to the beach, follow the walking track north.
The Cache is a medium sized aluminum drink container container. There are a no swaps, has a log book and pencil.
