It features stained glass from a contemporary of Willam Morris, Henry Holliday, and a fully restored Conacher organ and still features a working mechanical clock!
The churchyard tells the usual tale of high infant mortality in the 19th and early 20th centuries, lack of some headstones hide the fact that there are about 1500 people buried here, in places 5 deep!
The Lych-Gate contains a war memorial, which is notable for its reference to the "Great War of 1914-1919", a year longer than everywhere else! I wonder if the messenger carrying the news in 1918 got stuck in one of the nearby pubs?
The church featured as the venue for the wedding of Glenda and Barry in the long running series, Last of the Summer Wine, and is just a couple of miles from Holmfirth the location of the infamous "Nora Batty's steps", it's also been the location for other TV programs such as "If I had you" in 1996.
The cache is placed a short distance from the church itself, and should be easily accessible to all, those using public transport will find that the 310 bus stops conveniently close.
