Geocache Description:

This cache has been placed with the kind permission of the RSPB. This is cache number 8 of 11 along the Red Trail. This is a steady and strenuous climb all the way to the top with spectacular views down on the lake, across the hills, moorlands and forests of this beautiful reserve.

Please note that Mobile Phone coverage is very poor in this area so you are advised to download the required information prior to your visit to allow for access when offline.

Follow the Red Trail down the hill. This area has great views of the surrounding hills and glimpses of the lake but the weather conditions will be colder than below as you are exposed to the elements so please be sensible and dress appropriately.

The Mistle Thrush is the largest of the common thrushes and most readily identified by the large round spots on their under parts. They have a very upright stance and pure white underwing that is easily visible in flight. Due to the nature of the work undertaken by the RSPB and the forestry commission it may at times be necessary to disable this cache temporarily and we ask that you respect our decision to do this.
