The Sparrow Hawk is the second commonest bird of prey. The male is one of the smallest birds of prey with short rounded wings and a long tail. It can be recognised in flight by its white underside and orange bars which run the length of its wings. The female is much larger than the male and generally double it's weight. The stripes on her wings are grey brown instead of orange.
