Geocache Description:

Although few have hiked the full trail, it is a fact that the Rocky Ridge Trail extends from the south end of Moraga to the west side of Danville/San Ramon.  Much of this trail is very lovely, with spectacular vistas in several directions, and nary a sign of civilization in sight. The entire trail is approximately 10.3 km (6.3 mi) one-way, and can be hiked in 2.5 to 3 hours.

NOTE:  To hike on these trails, you must obtain an EBMUD hiking permit, which is available here.

The recommended trailhead is Rancho Laguna Park in Moraga -- GC64XM9.

It appears that EBMUD wishes people to use the new trail, not the old, so I have placed a few caches along the new trail to mark the way. This one is on both the old and new trails.

This geocache is at a pleasant spot near the creek bottom. If you are coming from San Ramon, then you just passed the creek bottom, and now face a steep climb up to the west.  If you are coming from the Moraga, then head left (north) for 40 meters (120 feet) along the fire road, and then take the branch to the right at N37 48.549 W122 05.696 to continue on the Rocky Ridge Trail.
