On the first day of Christmas, my caching buddy gave to me--- A Tchotchke that would make a great travel bug!!! According to Wikipedia, a tchotchke is a small bauble, doodad, doohickey, gewgaw, gismo, goolya, kitsch, knickknack, lagniappe, swag, thingamabob, thingamajig, toy, trinket, whatchamacallit, whosie-whatsit, widget, etc. in case you were wondering what it is. Here's a local 12-12-12 event for the Warren area.
Since the 12th comes on a weeknight we thought we needed a local event to make it easier for people to make a 12-12-12 event. In case you are not aware, Groundspeak (geocaching.com) will award a special souvenir if you attend an event on Dec 12, 2012. Join thousands of geocachers on December 12, 2012. It's a celebration of numbers and all those who count themselves as geocachers. The calendar will align for the last time this century. Enjoy 12-12-12 by joining friends for a geocaching adventure or attending a local geocaching Event Cache. All those caching to shake off the winter chill in the Northern Hemisphere or embracing a summer cache run in the Southern Hemisphere will earn an exclusive 12-12-12 Souvenir.
Come join us for a little pre-christmas get together for geocachers at a local restaurant for a meet and greet, travel bug exchange with a little twist, and maybe a little pizza if you are hungry. Although it is strictly optional or voluntary, since this is a Christmas themed event, we would like everyone to bring a small wrapped gift to exchange randomly with another cacher in attendance. The gift should be something suitable for the recipient to make into a travel bug or a cache trade item with a maximum value of $2.00. All those providing a travel bug item will receive a free trackable travel tag to create their own trackable item from the gift you will receive.
You can also bring regular trackables for exchange as well, and the restaurant offers a pizza buffet for $6.99 if you are interested. The buffet is open from 5:00-8:00 PM and our event will run from 7:00 to 9:00 PM to miss most of the regular supper crowd.
We may also sprinkle a few temporary caches around the geomeet to spice things up. You can come anytime during the 2 hour event to sign the log and exchange your potential trackable item. No purchase required, but why not join us for pizza and good camaraderie. Merry Christmas!!! HO HO HO
