This cache has been archived.

HighCountryAdmin: I am archiving this defunct geocache to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements. If you wish to repair or replace the cache sometime in the future, please contact me via my profile, and assuming it still meets the guidelines, I will be happy to unarchive it.

Geocache Description:

Large pill bottle. Not big enough to hold any swag or trackables but I was able to fit a log and pencil.

Looking west and a bit north you can see a large two story farm house with a green roof. The house was built by Joseph and Rosa Wilson in 1914. It is listed in the Colorado State Historical Register. Purchased by mail order from Sears, Roebuck and Co., This ready-to assemble Westly model kit arrived in railroad boxcars with all the materials needed to construct the house.

East of the house in the open field, the Wilson’s grew corn, hay and oats. Also on the farm the Wilson’s raised horses, cows, chickens, and pigs. They lived here until about 1920.

You can hunt for this at night because there is a street light but you might bring a flash light because the bottle is covered in black tape. There is a bit of traffic on Old Pueblo Road so you might want to be careful of muggles. You will be able to park on a quiet side road. Should be a quick grab. The farm house is rented out time to time so you may not be able to go up to the house.

I am going to hide several caches in this area with descriptions of not only of the caches themselves but of Fountain Colorado history. This will be my 3rd in a series. I hope not only that you enjoy the sport of geocaching but love history as I do. Thank You.
