Geocache Description:

The cache IS at the posted coordinates; however there's a Quality and Quantity Challenge to be met.

The challenge is to find 50 Puzzle (aka Unknown, Mystery) Caches (including this one) , with 7 for each of 7 of the categories listed below. Please note that it is only necessary that the cache appears to be in the chosen category according its cache page.

CATEGORIES:

  • Math Puzzles: Most puzzles involve some numbers of course. But here we're interested in caches that appear to involve some math beyond simple arithmetic.
  • Coding/Encryption: Coding - for example binary, trinary, Morse, Braille, etc. in which coordinates are encoded somehow. Encryption: By encryption we mean a higher level encoding more at the language level, such as Caesar cyphers, Fairplay, RSA, etc. (If you have enough caches you can separate this category into two - one for Coding and one for Encryption.)
  • Logic Puzzles: Sudoku and other logical reasoning puzzles.
  • Story Puzzles: in which it seems that you have to dig out the solution from a story.
  • Music Puzzles: puzzles which appear to depend on music somehow.
  • Picture Puzzles: Not just jigsaw puzzles, but mostly those puzzles with a set of pictures, say at least six, on the cache page.
  • "Where's the Puzzle?" puzzles: Mostly blank pages where no clues are apparent.
  • Field Puzzles: I'm not sure what these are but there's an icon for them. So the icon should be lit.
  • Monumental and Multi- Puzzles: Typically, one obtains information off of a monument, often in a cemetery, from which the final location is determined. Perhaps several locations are involved.
  • Challenges: "True" Challenges in which you have to find a slug of other caches. This cache is an example.
  • IS's: Unknown caches other than Challenges in which the cache page shows that the cache IS at the posted location. This category might include ALRs ( the no longer allowed Additional Logging Requirement caches) and misclassified caches.
  • Geo-art Caches which form some sort of patten when viewed on the map. These are usually puzzles because the posted coordinates can be selected to form a pattern.

FAQ:

  • Q: Mightn't my classifying a cache in a certain category compromise the cache?
A: No, because it's just the appearance of the cache page that counts. For example a cache could be listed in the Picture category even though the pictures are a ruse and have nothing to do with the solution.
  • Q: I've found a puzzle cache that involved getting information off of a tombstone but also had the field puzzle icon lit and was par of a geo-art pattern of the US flag and had six red herring pictures. Can I claim it four times in the Monument, Picture, Field and Geo-art categories?
A: Nope, just once. Your choice.
  • Q: How do I make my claim?
A: Just list the categories, caches and dates as in the nearby 7×7 Challenge.
  • Q: More questions?
    A: Just ask.
