Geocache Description:

Sherwood Cemetery which has the grave of a first cousin of Abraham Lincoln. Catherine Lincoln Sallinger. Born December 23, 1817. Please be respectful of the area.

Union troops arrived on May 19, 1863 and burned, Sherwood which was the third largest town in Jasper County at the time with 250 inhabitants.

Nothing remains of the town today but an overgrown Sherwood Cemetery. There was no Joplin at the time, so Sherwood might have become the Joplin of the area.

The cache is in a Med Bottle covered with camo tape, bring your own pen.
