A cache located in Rumbalara Reserve.
Rumbalara Reserve lies immediately to the east of Gosford City Centre. The magnificent tree-covered slopes of the reserve are characteristic of the natural scenery encompassing Brisbane Water. Vehicle access is via Springfield along Wells Street, Springfield Road and Dolly Avenue.
The name "Rumbalara" is an Aboriginal word for "Rainbow" or an expression of something picturesque and romantic and bearing a wide and ever-changing spectrum of sun and shadow.
Rumbalara covers an area of 53ha including Katandra walking trails and is part of the heavily incised ridges that form part of the Hornsby Plateau. The highest point is Mount Mouat which is about 160m above sea level.
Various lookouts give extensive views of the entire Brisbane Water, Barrenjoey Lighthouse, North Gosford, Wyoming and the rural lands of Gosford. Picnic sites, toilets, scenic lookouts and walking trails are available in the reserve.
Rumbalara is home to many creatures. Blue-tongue lizards, tree snakes, brush-tailed possum and marsupial mice may be encountered as well as many species of bird life.
