Lactodorum: Rather than keep this cache temporarily disabled (which should only be used for shortish periods) I'm archiving it. If/when the cache is ever replaced I'll gladly unarchive it assuming it still meets the guidelines.

Geocache Description:

Tim & June are founder members of the
The Geocaching Association of Great Britain

The cache can be reached by finding a narrow footpath within the village of Chawton, this will lead you to a field. Climb the style and you will find yourself crossing a field of horses, on the other side you will enter a small woods.

The British novelist Jane Austen settled in the Village of Chawton in 1809, and after that time she wrote her 6 major novels.
  • Sense and Sensibility (hence the name of this cache :-) )
  • Pride and Prejudice
  • Mansfield Park
  • Emma
  • Northanger Abbey
  • Persuasion

It is well worth spending some time looking around the Village and paying a visit to Jane Austens House, which is open to the public (there is a charge) the following times: -1st March to 30th November daily 11-00 am 4-30pm, January, February and December. Saturday and Sundays only.

If you spend some time wandering around the quaint Village of Chawton you should find lots of references to Jane Austen and her novels, there is also a Public House and a tea-rooms named after her sister Cassandra.
