Geocache Description:

The geocaching community consists of many fantastic characters. Having set many caches, I get to read many “found” logs, each telling a story about the finder. The more finds a person gains, the more it feels like you know them when they share their experiences in their logs. One of the better relationships I have within our hobby is with a couple I’ve never met, but after reading so many log entries and emails, I am always left with a beaming smile on my face. I’ve never had a penfriend before (I guess this is a similar experience!), but I feel we know each other really well, to the extent that I’m happy to call them a friend, and dedicate this cache to them.

This cache marks my 71st. It’s not a special number, other than 70 caches have gone before, since June 2011. Walking the whole journey with me, there’s been just one couple that have found all 70 - a 100% milestone no other cacher will ever achieve, as many are now archived. So who exactly holds the honours?

And so it began… (April 2014 - FTF - GC52W4V_stour-valley-cache)

An ode to t.a.folk

I looked and I looked at every cranny and nook
Would you believe it was the last place I looked!
Halted mid-signing by two men wanting to pass through the gate
30 seconds more and I wouldn't of had to wait!
I couldn't resist the temptation of a FTF race
And I now have a smile right across my face.

Oh t.a.folk will no doubt come up with a better log.
They always do, putting in a hard slog.

A response didn’t take long…

I looked and I looked at every cranny and nook
Would you believe it was the last place I looked

It would be looney beyond words to look in places more,
Once you have found what you were looking for.

Unless its a something that you have already spied,
But not twigged it is the cunning novel hide.

And then it continued…

I wondered how long
before an email came along

glad you have read
or else, instead
it would have been a waste
and there was no haste

you are leading the way on lost caches you know.
65 finds with 2 coastals to go

just my different caching experience you have not tried
then that would be all 68 I've supplied.

Shame it's disabled currently though
I hope you do get it and I think I know

And wouldn't it be fitting for my #1 cache finders to have a cache named after them
to show how much I appreciate what they do (which is bring joy with such wacky logs!) Amen!!!

Do NOT want to miss a cache of yours.
The very idea we do deplore.

Today we need to cache for two,
But knackered am I, so what to do?

Zig zag and walk the promenade?
Along then up would be so hard.

Go to the Forest and play Roulette.
Then smokey cache we have yet to get

That Devon trip has taken left me spent.
My get up and go? It came, it went.

Less walking might be Scarlet cache,
Then to the Valley we might dash?

Where today should we go?
Before lunch or after? I DON'T KNOW!

Preparation well under way…

I went shopping this afternoon
I sense a Loony Folks cache being prepared soon.

But then 7 months went by, as cache 69 and 70 had to be found…

...which brings us to today. Thanks for the 70 most wonderful and interesting logs and the many great emails shared. This cache is for you. Enjoy! Time now for you to prepare.

I can’t wait for a certain found log. ;)
