While placing this cache, a DNR official drove by. It happend to be someone I know, so we stopped and chatted a while. I asked him about the nearby trees with all the bark chewed off of them. I asked if it was porcupines, because I knew that they often do that to trees. He said it was either that or probably squirrles. The trees are sugar maples and they are trying to get the the sweet sap under the bark.
