Triskaidekaphilia : A Nebraska Favorite Challenge Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

James Bridger: MISCELLANEOUS RANT:

I boast that I own nearly a thousand geocache hides. Come to find out, it's been the other way around this whole time.

Someone painted April Fool in big black letters on a Dead End sign.

Would you rather get one shot in the head or five in the chest and bleed to death?

Held his heart in his hands, and ate of it.

You pay as you go. Sometimes all you have.

I'm going outside now. I may be gone for some time.

I am shutting down the machine. A container will remain at the following location for a while yet, until I retrieve it, so you may find it normally. If you wish, you may take the container. If you do so, please indicate such in your log. Likewise, as I recover the container, I will post that I have removed the container.

Thank you to all who "Veni. Vidi. Vici."

Geocache Description:

THE CACHE IS NOT AT THE POSTED COORDINATES!

Instead you will have to solve the puzzle below to find this cache. In addition, it is a challenge cache and has specific requirements you must meet before you can log a find. I reserve the right to delete found logs from those who have not fulfilled the requirements of the challenge.

A huge thanks to Gredgeman for letting me copy the cache Missouri Top 10 Challenge.
I encourage you to check it out.

THE CHALLENGE

This challenge is all about finding 13 of the top 20 caches in the state of Nebraska. Since Premium Members have been casting their votes for their favorite geocaches, some of these caches have climbed to the top of the Favorite list.

Here is how you find the top 20 Favorite caches in the state. This only works for Premium Members, so if you do not have a Premium Membership, have someone you know run the filter for you.

1- Go to the Geocaching home page and click on "Play > Hide & Seek a Cache".

Hide & Seek

2- Under the "Seek a Cache..." heading, search "by State/Province:", pick "Nebraska", and then click "Go".

Seek a Cache

3- Click on the Blue Ribbon Favorite filter Blue Ribbon to sort the caches in descending order by Favorite Points. The top 20 caches in the state will be displayed.

THE COMPLETION

1- If you choose to accept this challenge, write a note stating your intent to accept the challenge, with a list of that day's top 20 caches in the state.

2- Go and find at least 13 of those caches, and then find this cache.

3- When you log your find, either attach a bookmark with your qualifying finds or include the list in your found log. Please use the "GC Code, Cache Name, Date Found" format if you choose the latter method.

  • Previous finds do count.
  • If you own or later adopt one of the caches in your top 20, you may not use it as one of your 13.
  • If you have found one of your top 20 before you adopt it, it may count as one of your 13.
  • If one of your top 20 gets archived, you will have to fill your 13 from the remaining 19.
  • If you have found a cache and it then gets archived, it will count towards your 13.
  • If this cache ever becomes one of the top 20, it may not be used as one of your 13.
  • In the unlikely event that more than 7 of the top 20 are archived or owned by you, you may fill your 13 from page 2 of the Favorite sort.
  • The idea of this challenge is to have fun and get you out there looking for the Favorite caches in Nebraska. I'm pretty flexible and willing to work for a solution with any individual issues. Please contact me with any questions.

THE PUZZLE

You will have to solve the puzzle below to find the location of the final. It's not too tough, so don't overthink it. Find the source of the items listed and then number them in the order they appear, plug those numbers into the puzzle.

North 40° warm woolen mittens sleigh bells . whiskers on kittens crisp apple strudels raindrops on roses

West 97° brown paper packages tied up with strings brown paper packages tied up with strings . whiskers on kittens warm woolen mittens raindrops on roses

At the location of the final you will see what type of respect to afford the area and those who reside there, so please be courteous and only hunt this cache during daylight hours. Respect the area, CITO if needed, use stealth if warranted, rehide as you find it for the next cacher, and please post no hints or spoilers. Thank you and good luck.
