Geocache Description:

Lak Muang - City Pillar

A Lak Mueang or City pillar is found in most cities of Thailand. Usually housed in a shrine which is also believed to house the city spirit deity, Chao Pho Lak Muang, it is held in high esteem by the citizens of the town.

City Wall, Nakhon Si Thammarat

Nakhon Si Thammarat's City Pillar (Lak Muang) is designed with the four faces of Brahma at the top. The gilded pillar is protected by a perspex tube and surrounded by four smaller Brahma-style pillars. The red ceiling above the pillar has a large, octagonal indentation with gilded reliefs of Rahu eating the moon. Among other statues in front of the pillar is one of Jatukam Ramathep, the deity that inspired an amulet craze that swept the country in 2007.

The shrine is located on the northern side of the sports field, almost opposite the main tourist office, and just a short walk from Ratchadamnoen Road.

The Cache: Your are looking for a film can. Be aware of muggles and hide the cache well at the same place after you have logged.
Please do not only go there for searching the cache! Don’t miss to have a look inside the city pillar as well!
