Geocache Description:

Hey, this is number cache placement 200 for me!!!!

You are looking for a small Lock n Lock filled with 32 ACP spent shells from James Bond's PPK.

It should be winter friendly at least for most of the winter. A short drive off the pavement in summer and a few meters walk.

Before the modern facility now known as Wabush Airport was completed in the early 1980s the old airport building which was located across the road from this cache served the area. It provided point of entry to Labrador West for those traveling by plane. Direct air service was available to both Quebec and to Newfoundland and Labrador.

The paved runway strip is 300 m in width and 1948.8 m in length and 545.9 m above sea level. Currently the airport terminal, now located about 160 m to the north, is served by Provincial Air Lines, Labrador Air and Air Canada Jazz. Charter services also use this airport. The new building houses a restaurant and commercial offices.

Until the opening of Quebec Highway 389 and the Trans-Labrador Highway, the most widely used form of transportation for leaving or returning to Labrador West was by 737 jet plane. When the road opened, there was a sharp reduction in air travel. As the number of passengers decreased, airlines cut back on service provided to this area. Current commercial service is by turbo-prop planes like the Dash-8 and Saab-A340.
