Geocache Description:

Coords NOT for cache, and you probably don't want to look here.

The Mayans had a rather intricate understanding of the passage of time and the meaning of each day that passed. In order to follow time's passing... they maintained several concurrent calendars to track civil and religious events... as well as historically significant occasions in ages past. This cache commemorates the Mayan civil calendar, known as the Haab.

Much like our civil calendar, the Mayan Haab is made up of named months consisting of numbered days. How many months? What are their names? How many days? That's for you to research and then come back to solve this puzzle!

The cache is located at North AB° CD.EFG West HI° JK.LMN.
  • AB = the number of days Pop plus the number of days in Wo minus 2
  • CD = the number of days from 15 Sip to 8 Sek
  • EFG = the number of days from 13 Xul to 3 Yaxk'in
  • HI = the number of days in Sotz', Mol, Ch'en, Yax and Sak added together minus twice the number of days in Wayeb
  • JK = (three times the number of days in Keh) minus 2
  • LMN = (twice the number of days in the entire Haab calendar) plus the number of days in K'ank'in, Muwan, Pax, K'ayab and Kumk'u added together plus 14
