Geocache Description:

Ghaf trees are a common sight in this part of the desert, sometimes in groups, sometimes singly.  They make great shade for a picnic and often can be found in pleasant spot for a campsite. These two large specimens fulfil the latter but not the former - they are as the title of this cache says, end to end and very dead!

The cache itself is a small polyproplene screw top jar in a black sock. It initially contains a collection of key rings (including the mini log book and a TB!), a short pencil and a pencil sharpener.

You may even spot some gazelle nearby, when we were here there was evidence that they use these two trees as a place to hide away for some shade. We saw several gazelle as we approached the area and more as we drove on later.

Getting here is hard if you enter from the Al Faqa'a side you'll find yourself driving at right angles to the line of the dunes which mostly run east-west in this area. The dunes themselves are not very high but their short steep sides will prove a challenge for all but the most experienced dune drivers.

If you start instead from Al Lisilly to the north you can get as far as the Sand Bowl Cache (GC34YGK) mostly by track by the pylons but after that it is another trek against the dunes from the opposite side to Al Faqa'a.

Whichever way you attempt this one do ensure you go as a group of 4x4s, don't go alone, take plenty of water and ensure you have a full set of recovery gear. Don't forget your tent, the bowl looks a delightful spot for a campsite!
