Geocache Description:

This cache is located off of Hibbs Road in Carteret County near the transfer station. THERE IS A GATE THAT BLOCKS THE ROAD AND IS OPEN M-F 7:30-4:00 & SAT. 7:30-NOON STANDARD TIME. GATE IS OPEN M-F 7:30-4:30 & SAT. 7:30-2:00 DAYLIGHT TIME. The gate is not open on Sundays. The difficulty level is 3.5 mainly because of the entrance gate.

Drive down the paved road and park near N34° 45.216 W076° 52.982. If the second gate at these coordinates is open DO NOT DRIVE IN. You might get locked in. Park here. Walk down the trail/road until you come to the pond. This is known to some as "Kid's Fish Day Pond". This would not be a bad place for a picnic however, in the summer snakes are out, so you would need to look for them. Follow the trail/road around the pond and up to the large clearing. Follow your GPS and and you will have no trouble. The cache is located at the base of a tree.

CACHE MAINTENANCE WAS CONDUCTED ON 3-22-03 AND WAS FOUND IN GREAT SHAPE. THIS MUST BE A FORGOTTEN CACHE AS TWO OF THE ORIGINAL "CACHE COLLECTOR CARDS" ARE STILL THERE FOR THE NEXT VISITORS. CACHE HAD SOME OF THE FOLLOWING:

  • Dexter Magnet
  • Small plastic shovel
  • Rain Poncho
