One night, out in the bush near Te Anau, Kiwi and Takahē were meeting for their weekly game night. They liked to play many different kinds of games, but their favorite involved advancing along a grid of 100 squares. With the help of their friends, Pukeko and Tui, they laid out the grid in a clearing, and took turns rolling a standard die, Kiwi throwing first. The first one to 100 would win, and it was always a heated, though friendly, match, as some squares contained chance opportunities that could change the outcome dramatically:
4-26, 9-30, 13-56, 19-38, 37-59, 48-69, 60-83, 73-89,
77-96, 98-67, 94-70, 81-58, 65-40, 54-24, 50-27, 23-6
