He was well known in the neighborhood, you messed with him or his family and it's gonna be a brawl and you're gonna LOSE!..........Jimmy the Muff aka my father, to be blunt he was a bad a$% back in the late 50's & the 60's, 70's, 80's (you get the idea). He grew up in a rough neighborhood in the Dyckman section of upper Manthattan and was a member of the local gang known as The Devils Children (no devil worshipping invovled, just a scary name) I have seen my dad in many fights and never seen him lose any. Once I saw him fight 4 guys with a bar stool as his weapon, he beat 3 of them and the 4th ran away (he did lose all his teeth in that one though). So far this must sound crazy to you but he did hang out in bars. His drink of choice was Bacardi & Coke. On a lighter note he was an awesome father, I remember him always getting us whatever we wanted. He was a very giving and respectful man, if I was hanging outside with my friends and I saw him coming home from work he would always give me & my friend money to buy goodies. Everybody on my block thought he was super cool. He always wore a white t-shirt, jeans and boots THAT'S IT! (he never left the 50's look). One story in paticular I remember him telling me was back when I was two years old there was this guy in the new neighborhood we moved to that everybody feared, nobody would mess with him and one day my mother was waiting for my dad in the local bar on Bailey Ave. in the Bronx and this guy started hitting on my mom and my dad walked in and the guy started talking crap to my dad and they stepped outside with everyone in the bar and whoever was hanging around. Then my dad knocked him out with 1 shot! Well can you guess who was the man after that!!.......One time when I was in my teens, my dad came home after having one too many drinks and he got robbed in the elevator of my building, so I ran out to the block to find out if anybody knew anything about who did it, when I returned to my building and entered the lobby my dad was standing there holding his hunting rifle while my friend Louie was trying to tell him "Jimmy go home before the cops come"......Well Thanks for taking the time to read this as crazy as it sounds but he was my father and I am who I am from the many lessons and skills he taught me. He is no longer with us but his legend will live on to those who knew him. He is missed by me & my 2 older sisters. R.I.P. DAD 1/29/41-8/3/2008.....NO MUFF 2 TOUGH!!!
