Geocache Description:

A small lockbox in a grassy enclosure in Rosemount.

When I first emigrated to the UK, having left a balmy Durban at 36C and come to Aberdeen at a rather brrrrrisk 4C, this was the spot I built my first snowman.

There are a few options for parking - either at the little car park at the end of Mackie Place (waypoint supplied), or on Skene Street, or towards the north at the bottom of Jack's Brae.  The cache is located in a small walled enclosure, between flats, houses, the Den Burn, and other walled enclosures!

The northern edge of the enclosure ends at a wall overlooking the Den Burn.  With all the rain we've had in December 2012, it was running quite swiftly when I placed the cache.  Across the burn is a garden with a rather interesting looking house - very different to the tenement flats around it.  The garden has a nice little secret door leading to the burn.  I wonder if in the olden days they did their washing in it?  I reckon some of the historians amongst you can enlighten us! (looking at Doodledogs of the Wells of Bon Accord series fame!).

What I didn't notice at first, though, was a strange metal sculpture balanced on the wall near the door.  At first I thought it was a chameleon, because of the hunched appearance and the long toes.  Then I thought it might be someone's idea of Bambi in Armour.  Whatever it is, I thought it was pretty interesting.

The cache is not at the north wall, though it is in this enclosure.  Have fun!
