The Avenue connects the Town of Beccles to the Common and has been around since the mid 19th century. It is enclosed with an iron fence, is a quarter of a mile long and is lined predominantly with elm trees. The Common was once the focal point of the town and often hosted horse racing and local fairs. It was also used by aviators in the early 20th century!
The Avenues is surrounded by a number of sports fields playing host to football, rugby and of course Cricket! Add to this the fact that the Avenue is a central route to the Common for dog walkers and you will understand why extreme stealth is required!
