The Cone (Horowhenua) Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

hamishnz: Unfortunately, the block of trees where the pinecone was hidden have been removed and the cache no longer has anywhere to hide! I no longer live in the North Island and therefore it's not possible to relocate and I've archived the cache. Thanks to everyone who found it!

Geocache Description:

The Cone is a park and grab cache hidden alongside State Highway 57 (Arapaepae Road), 5 minutes north of Levin.

The area surrounding the cache can be quite dangerous due to the amount of traffic so please be careful, especially if you're caching at night. A high degree of caution will need to be taken at all times.

The cache itself is a small screw top container, which is hidden somewhere along the fence line on the right side of the road (left if you're driving south). You will not need to climb over the fence, but when exploring be wary of the electric wire near the top. The cache contains only a logsheet, so please bring your own writing utensil. You may also need a small tool to lever the cache from it's hiding spot and to pull out the logbook. An unfolded paperclip or tweezers will do the trick.

It's possible to park right next to the cache, however if it's been raining the ground can become very marshy. Alternatively, you can park either at the Ihakara Hall or at the base of Wallace Road (both south of the cache). From here, you can safely walk up the fence line to the cache location.
