Geocache Description:

This cache is on a rocky outcrop near a small beach much favoured by locals and near the old town. At times the outcrop is an island so you may need to refer to the times of the high tides if you don't want to get your feet wet. Please help keep this cache dry and secure by replacing the lid securely and use the rock to hide and keep the cache in place.

Hopefully this cache will not get washed away, the sea does not cover the island totally even at high tide but does get buffeted by breaking waves. For this reason the cache is hidden in a crevice on the side of the rocks. It is, by necessity, very difficult to see. Please ensure that the cache is replaced securely and wedged by the small rocks. The beach nearby may seem unloved but is very popular with the local Spaniards when on their holidays in July and August.
I have set this cache near the old town, to show visitors that, although a holiday resort, Corralejo has also a very Spanish town at its heart. Corralejo is much more than the High Street, seafront and the visitor's hotel complex.
You will not see any lovely aged buildings in the old town, Corralejo is too new a development for that, but the old town is very Spanish. Here you will find the typical Spanish bars and restaurants, much cheaper than the ones in the tourist areas of the town. Look out for the "menu del dia" signs where you can eat a three course meal for 7 or 8 euros. Here you will also find the small Spanish shops, a butcher, a baker or a greengrocer or even a small shoe repair shop. There is also a fine restored windmill and Corralejo's main church. It is often noisy (Spaniards are not known as a quiet race) but not in the afternoon where the traditional siesta is observed. To explore the old town cross the road and go down the street opposite the parking place, the old town is on either side of this road.
